Miguel Bosé Scholarship to be Presented by the Latin Grammy Cultural Foundation

The Latin Grammy Cultural Foundation announced that it is now accepting applications for the Miguel Bosé Scholarship from students admitted to Berklee College of Music to attend the fall 2017 semester. The four-year scholarship for studies toward a bachelor of music degree at Berklee will be awarded to a student pursuing a career in music with a particular interest in Latin music. The scholarship, which holds a maximum value of $200,000, will be awarded by the Scholarship Committee of the Latin Grammy Cultural Foundation, comprising music professionals from all walks of the music industry, who will evaluate the applicants and select a beneficiary.

In an effort to further music education within Latin genres, the Miguel Bosé Scholarship will be awarded to a student who not only has a musical gift but who is also facing financial hardships. Latin Grammy-winner Miguel Bosé will assist in financing the scholarship that bears his name, and will announce and present the scholarship to one fortunate Berklee student.

"We are proud to be able to continue providing the next generation of music makers with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to further their music education at the prestigious institution Berklee College of Music," said Manolo Diaz, vice president of the Latin Grammy Cultural Foundation. "Miguel Bosé is synonymous with exquisite artistry, and his work has influenced and inspired all aspects of the arts for decades. His generosity will help provide a musical high note to one gifted student."

Applications and guidelines are now available via latingrammyculturalfoundation.com. The deadline to apply is April 10, 2017, at 11:59 p.m. EST. Students from the following 24 countries, who have been admitted to Berklee’s 2017 fall semester, are encouraged to apply: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Spain, United States, Uruguay, and Venezuela.

About Miguel Bosé

Miguel Bosé was born in Panamá, son of the Italian diva Lucia Bosé and the famous bullfighter Luis Miguel Dominguín. He grew up surrounded by art and culture. Pablo Picasso and Ernest Hemingway were friends of his family. Director Luchino Visconti was his godfather and Picasso was the godfather to his sister, Paola. After a short period as an actor, which included a leading role in Pedro Almodóvar's film Tacones Lejanos, Bosé decided to devote himself fully to music. He became an innovative force in the Latin and Spanish music scene, creating numerous hits and selling more than 30 million albums. Bosé won a Latin Grammy for Best Male Pop Vocal Album in 2002 for Sereno and was honored by the Latin Recording Academy as Person of the Year in 2013. He is also an important activist for several charities, including Habitat for Humanity, Oceana, and Paz Sin Fronteras. In May 2016, he recorded the album MTV Unplugged, which features collaborations with several of his friends, including Juanes, Fonseca, Maná's Sergio Vallín and Alex González, among others.
