The Rave Guardian app is available for iOS and Android device users.
The app may be used in both emergency and non-emergency situations; however, in an emergency, a phone call to Berklee's police at 617-747-8888 is always preferable.
Features of the app include the following:
Text-a-tip to Berklee police
Users have the ability to remain anonymous and share real-time location information and photos with the police dispatcher through the text-a-tip feature. Note that a chat must be started before location information can be shared.
A virtual safety escort with location sharing
You can activate the virtual safety escort timer and then choose friends and family to watch over you during your walk; they don’t need to have the Rave Guardian app to do this. You can use this feature any time and anywhere around Boston.
The Public Safety Department is the “official guardian” and will be alerted if you don’t deactivate the timer.
A mobile panic button with location sharing
Use the preprogrammed Berklee Public Safety emergency call function if you need help during an emergency. By pressing “Place Call,” you are notifying the Public Safety Department of an emergency.
A confirmation screen ensures that you do not dial the emergency line by accident.
This feature allows you to share your location with Public Safety (note that this option is selected by default).
