Boston Conservatory at Berklee Summer 2022 Free Course Discount
Policy
This initiative is offered to Boston Conservatory at Berklee undergraduate and graduate students who attended full-time or part-time at least half-time in fall 2020 for remote study. Eligible students will receive one or two tuition-free credit-bearing courses (up to six credits total) during summer 2022 toward their program requirements.
Please note that free credits cannot be applied towards courses that are typically offered as part of the graduate music education and M.F.A. summer programs. The purpose of the free credits is to provide in-person learning opportunities that were not available in the remote fall 2020 semester, and therefore they can only be used to cover tuition for elective or liberal arts courses through Berklee College of Music’s summer semester.
How to Receive the Course Credit
While Boston Conservatory at Berklee summer M.F.A. and graduate music education courses are not eligible for this credit, Boston Conservatory students may enroll in elective or liberal arts courses through Berklee College of Music’s summer semester to earn credits towards their Conservatory degree.
Register for summer courses by completing the Cross-Registration Request Form. Once you are registered, the Office of Student Accounts will place the appropriate credit on your account automatically, which will deduct from your overall tuition charges.
Eligibility
- Students who were enrolled full-time for fall 2020 are eligible for two tuition-free credit-bearing courses (up to six credits total), to be taken in summer 2022, toward their program requirements.
- Students who were enrolled part-time (at least half-time) for fall 2020 are eligible for one tuition-free credit-bearing course (up to three credits total), to be taken in summer 2022 toward their program requirements.
Please note that if you fall into the following categories, you are not eligible to receive these free credits:
- Students who were enrolled in fewer than six credits for fall 2020 are not eligible.
- Students who graduated in fall 2020 or spring 2021 are not eligible.
- Students who already received a free course in summer 2021 are not eligible even if they did not exhaust all of their eligible credits in summer 2021.
As mentioned above, the free credits cannot be applied towards courses that are typically offered as part of the graduate music education and M.F.A. summer programs. The purpose of the free credits is to provide in-person learning opportunities that were not available in the remote fall 2020 semester, and therefore they can only be used to cover tuition for elective or liberal arts courses through Berklee College of Music’s summer semester.

What to Expect
If you meet the above eligibility requirements, the amount of credit you receive will depend upon your fall 2020 status and your summer 2022 course schedule. Courses that are covered by the discount must count toward your program requirements. The maximum amount of credit you may receive would be the equivalent of six credits. Certain exceptions may apply as the amount of the credit will not exceed the cost of your tuition, including Berklee aid. For example, if you are only enrolled in the $100 internship, the amount of credit you receive would cover the cost of the internship, or if you are a student receiving a full-tuition scholarship, this discount will not generate a refund.
Students who enroll during summer 2022 will have their scholarships prorated, or adjusted, proportionally to the tuition savings when comparing fall 2021 to summer 2022. For more information and to estimate how your scholarships might be affected, please visit the Summer Scholarship Adjustment Calculator (login required).
Please refer to the charts below to view your estimated credit amount for summer 2022.
