Kristen Beck
Kristen Beck is excited to join the Equity and Title IX team at the Berklee College of Music in September 2024!
Kristen earned her B.A. in Religious Studies and Peace & Conflict Studies from the University of Utah, followed by her JD from the same institution. While in law school, she focused her studies on human rights and civil rights law and interned at organizations that were passionate about protecting the human dignity of all people, including the ACLU of Utah and the Irish Centre for Human Rights. However, her internship at the Office of Equity at Utah State University (“USU”) solidified her passion for Title IX work.
Following law school, Kristen worked as a Title IX Investigator at Utah Valley University before rejoining USU as a Deputy Title IX Coordinator. In this role, she investigated allegations of sexual misconduct between students, faculty, staff, and third parties under USU’s Department of Justice Resolution Agreement. She also facilitated agreements under the Informal Resolution Process and drafted policies and procedures for the university. In addition to her Title IX work at USU, she also investigated allegations of discrimination based on a protected class under Title VI and VII.
Prior to law school, Kristen worked as a licensed cosmetologist for almost ten years. She loved working in a creative environment while serving clientele who had a profound influence on her future legal aspirations.
In her downtime, Kristen enjoys hiking, drinking really good coffee, and listening to audiobooks. She is also on a mission to explore all of the National Parks in the United States.
