How to Apply

When to Apply

The best time to go abroad varies by major. Early planning is important, so we encourage students to begin thinking about study abroad when they first begin college, even if they will not actually be going to the Valencia campus until a year or two later.

Berklee College of Music students may refer to the major grids and department websites for relevant advice about each major. Boston Conservatory at Berklee students should consult with their program advisor and may also refer to our Study Abroad for Conservatory Students page. Students attending other colleges or universities are advised to consult with the study abroad office at their home institution.

Students are encouraged to apply one year in advance. For some students, that could mean applying during your first or second semester.

  • Be in good academic and disciplinary standing.

You don’t have to be a musician to study abroad at Berklee Valencia, though students who are musicians, or who have an appreciation of music and the performing arts, are especially encouraged to apply. There is no Spanish language requirement, as English is the main language of instruction for most of our courses. However, students with an interest in Spanish are very welcome to study with us and will have the option to take Spanish classes as part of their coursework as well as use their Spanish skills on a regular basis.

All students will need a valid passport that will remain valid for at least six months beyond their planned period of study abroad. If you don’t already have a passport, we strongly advise that you apply for one right now. It is recommended that your passport be ready no less than four months before your studies abroad will begin. Refer to our Passport and Visa Information page for additional details.
