JT Timms
JT Timms (they/them) is a licensed social worker with an M.F.A. in theater sound design from Boston University, a graduate certificate from the Yale School of Drama, and an M.S.W. from Boston College with a certificate in trauma. Prior to coming to Berklee, they worked in mental health in both hospital and community mental health settings. They also work as clinical social worker in a medical inpatient setting. Some of their areas of interest include depression, anxiety, trauma, and working with the LGBTQ+ population. They are trained in narrative therapy and take a collaborative nonjudgmental approach to therapy. They believe that individuals should be defined by their interests, hopes, dreams, and values not by the problems they struggle with.
Before becoming a social worker, they had a career as a sound designer and stagehand and believe in the importance of the arts as well as its power to build community and inspire change. When not at work they enjoy going to live shows, watching college football and professional soccer, reading, learning new things, and enjoying different creative activities.
