Released in 1989, Indigo Girls' eponymous major-label debut sold over two million units under the power of singles “Closer to Fine” and “Kid Fears,” turning Indigo Girls into one of the most successful folk-rock duos in history. Cutting their teeth in clubs around their native Atlanta, Georgia, the Grammy-winning duo has recorded sixteen studio albums (seven gold, four platinum, one double platinum) and sold over 15 million records.

Avid activists and champions of women’s and LGBTQ+ rights, the Indigo Girls broke through at a time when it was still taboo for mainstream artists to be out about their sexuality. Marrying their distinctive vocal harmonies and countermelodies with literary, socially-conscious songwriting, the Indigo Girls have garnered a devoted, multigenerational following over their 35-year career.
