Virtual Event

The Berklee Visiting Artist Series is a live, interactive forum featuring some of today's most innovative professional performers and creators. These moderated discussions will focus on the topics of artistry, entrepreneurship, and social justice, and students will have the opportunity to actively participate by posing questions directly to guests. This event features a live interview with Daniel Platzman B.M. ’09, drummer for the Grammy-winning rock band Imagine Dragons, moderated by Berklee President Roger H. Brown.

Composer Daniel Platzman, a native of Atlanta, Georgia, has played trumpet in a concert band, violin in a pit band, viola in an orchestra, guitar in a rock band, and bass in a Manhattan club. In 2006, he participated in Betty Carter's Jazz Ahead program at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. He is currently the drummer for the Las Vegas–based rock band Imagine Dragons, winners of the 2014 Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree in film scoring from Berklee College of Music, where he studied with Hal Crook, Sheldon Mirowitz, Jackie Santos, and Ian Froman, among others; played in the Berklee Concert Jazz Orchestra (led by Greg Hopkins), the Urban Outreach Jazz Orchestra (led by Lin Biviano), and the Berklee Rainbow Big Band (led by Phil Wilson); and received the Vic Firth Award for outstanding musicianship and the Michael Rendish Award in film scoring.
