Join us for a powerful night of music and reflection as Berklee students take the stage alongside legendary guitarist Earl Slick in Music and Meaning in the Works of David Bowie. Presented by Berklee’s Liberal Arts and Sciences Department, this annual concert is the culminating event of the Literary Influences of David Bowie course, where students explore Bowie’s work through the lens of literature, symbolism, and the supernatural.
Earl Slick, best known as Bowie’s longtime guitarist on albums like Young Americans and Station to Station, brings decades of experience to this one-of-a-kind collaboration. He’ll perform with students on selections including “Stay,” a standout track anchored by one of his iconic guitar riffs.
Under the guidance of Associate Professor Gretchen Shae, students have analyzed Bowie’s lyrics and musical narratives to uncover deeper themes of fate, mortality, identity, and transformation. The concert program reflects those ideas in a selection of Bowie’s most thought-provoking works.
