Florence Price made history as the first African American female composer to gain international recognition when her symphony was performed by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in 1933. Despite facing immense challenges during the Jim Crow era, including family struggles and financial hardship, she rose to prominence before her untimely death. Her rediscovered works—lost for over three decades—are a powerful gift, offering a message that resonates deeply today. Price's legacy stands as a testament to her strength and resilience, making her an enduring American hero.
 

The Mindfulness for Pianists workshop will equip students with practices that nurture their mind-body connection. Pianists will learn integrative mindfulness practices that aid in self-regulation, help manage anxiety, and improve overall performance both in the classroom and on stage.

Berklee NYC's one-year master's program in Writing and Production for Musical Theater presents four mini lessons in creating musical theater featuring: 

The Native American Church (NAC) is renowned for its sacred peyote songs. The water drum, gourd rattle, and powerful songs are an integral part of the ceremony. In this presentation, historian Erika Dyck provides some of the historical context for the spread of the NAC in North America and its influence on medical research involving “set and setting” for psychedelic studies.

Renowned saxophonist and composer Tim Berne leads an in-depth workshop exploring the art of composition, band leadership, running an independent label, and the nuances of improvisation—with a candid focus on navigating failure and creative challenges.

Boston Conservatory at Berklee’s Vocal Arts Department welcomes back baritone Roderick Williams, OBE, to present a voice master class with students. 

Join fellow musical theater alumni for a dance class taught by Michelle Chasse, followed by a reception.

Acclaimed dramatic soprano Wendy Bryn Harmer presents a voice master class to Boston Conservatory at Berklee students and Boston Lyric Opera Jane and Steven Akin Emerging Artists, as part of Boston Conservatory’s Opera Innovators Series.
