Supreme Court Affirmative Action Decision
June 29, 2023
Dear Berklee community members,
Today the Supreme Court issued a decision on two landmark cases concerning race-conscious admissions in public and private institutions. The court ruled that considering race as a factor in college admissions processes is unconstitutional. This ruling is lengthy and requires our careful review and assessment on its full impacts and implications.
As we process this decision, we want to reiterate that diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging are values that we embrace and are critical to our success as leaders in performing arts education. We also want to express our deep appreciation for our community members, who each bring unique voices and experiences to Berklee.
Please know that our commitment to our values of fostering a diverse, inclusive, and equitable community of belonging remains unwavering.
Sincerely,
David Bogen
