Virginia Schmitt
Virginia Schmitt joined Danny Wimmer Presents (DWP), based in Los Angeles, in March of 2016 as the second hire in the company’s Operations Department. As the director of event operations, she focuses on the logistics and nitty-gritty details involved with producing 12–13 large-scale festivals a year, including everything from developing and managing security deployments to picking caterers to permitting to managing cleanup and overseeing festival safety and emergency planning. She has been deeply involved in the evolution of DWP's emergency response planning, and she continually drives improvements to staff, local agency, and partner communication to maintain DWP’s position in the industry as one of the largest, most successful independent promoters.
An alumnus of the University of Southern California’s School of Theatre (now called the School of Dramatic Arts) and a native Los Angeleno, Schmitt's work experience runs the gamut from theatrical production and stage management to project management to concert, tour, and event production. She has spent time freelancing as a production coordinator, project manager, and database coordinator for large-scale music festivals like Coachella, Outside Lands, and Treasure Island, and with concert promoters like Goldenvoice and Another Planet Entertainment. In August of 2015, she joined Madonna’s Rebel Heart Tour as a backstage coordinator for the tour's North American and European legs, after which she joined DWP.
When not on the road or in the office, Schmitt is involved with her local chapters of the American Civil Liberties Union, National Organization for Women, and Planned Parenthood Federation as well as an active member of the Los Angeles chapter of the anti-racist activist group Showing Up for Racial Justice (SURJ).
