Biography

Vanessa Rose is president and CEO of the American Composers Forum, where she leads the organization's advocacy for and support of living music creators through grants, commissions, convenings, and publications.

Her previous work in the performing arts has included the Metropolitan Opera, the Knights Orchestra, the Lark Play Development Center for playwrights, and the International Contemporary Ensemble. She has led organizations through significant transitions and, as a consultant, has guided EarShot (the national orchestra program for emerging composers), the Talea Ensemble, and the Arco Collaborative through strategic changes. Rose's administrative career started at the League of American Orchestras, and she went on to complete the league's orchestra management fellowship program, which included residencies with the Dallas Symphony, Elgin Symphony, Aspen Music Festival and School, and San Francisco Symphony.

A violinist, she attended Indiana University, the Eastman School of Music, Mannes College of Music, and the Royal Conservatory in the Hague, the Netherlands.
