Academia de Bachata (Part of the DREAM Project) Visits Berklee
Professor of percussion Ricardo Monzon hosts a special performance featuring guests from the Academia de Bachata, part of the DREAM Project, hailing from the Dominican Republic. Academia de Bachata offers free, intensive instruction in the traditional music of Latin America and the Caribbean, engaging youth in cultural expression. Students from this academy have participated in Berklee’s Santo Domingo programs and the Aspire: Five-Week Music Performance Intensive. Founder and Director Benjamin de Menil and his team bring an exceptional group of young musicians to Berklee to collaborate with Monzon’s bachata and merengue ensembles.
The event will take place at 1140 Boylston Street, Room S (Percussion Department) on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
All Berklee community members are welcome to bring their instruments and voices and join the wonderful musical exchange.
