The Grammy-nominated Berklee Indian Ensemble is bringing its genre-bending sound to several select U.S. cities this December in the Shuruaat Tour Reloaded(Opens in a new window). The tour includes stops in Detroit, Michigan (December 1), East Brunswick, New Jersey (December 2), San Jose, California (December 9), and Seattle, Washington (December 10).

The eight-piece touring band features some of the ensemble's most recognizable faces from over the last 10 years. The group will perform a slate of originals, new arrangements, songs from their Grammy-nominated debut album, Shuruaat (which means “beginning” in Hindi), and audience favorites.

“We were astounded and humbled by the turnout and support from diverse audiences for our spring tour across 15 U.S. cities earlier this year. It was a great way to celebrate the release of our debut album, Shuruaat, as well as our Grammy nomination,” says Annette Philip, the ensemble’s founder and artistic director. “Due to high demand in other U.S. cities, we decided to end the year with a mini tour to express our gratitude for the continued support from our fan base and to share the music of Shuruaat.”

The innovative multicultural ensemble, founded at Berklee in 2011, has earned acclaim for its unique style that honors Indian traditions while boldly experimenting with a cross-pollination of genres, cultures, and multidisciplinary art forms. After more than 10 years of enthralling millions of fans through live performances and viral YouTube content (which has over 316 million views), the ensemble released Shuruaat, on July 15, 2022, and was later recognized by the Recording Academy with a Grammy nomination for Best Global Music Album. The album features 98 musicians from 39 countries, including Grammy-winning tabla maestro Zakir Hussain(Opens in a new window) and renowned singers Shankar Mahadevan(Opens in a new window) and Shreya Ghoshal(Opens in a new window).
