Two Alumni Compete on Season 24 of NBC’s The Voice
For the last few months, Taylor Deneen B.M. ’21 and Claudia Swope B.M. ’19—who performs as Claudia B—were walking around with a secret they both found hard to keep. Every time someone asked them “Hey, how’s your summer going?” it must’ve taken quite the restraint to not break the news. Finally, on September 15, they were able to tell the world that they’d be competing on season 24 of NBC’s The Voice.
You can watch Deneen and Swope during the blind auditions on the new season's first two episodes on September 25 and 26 on NBC and streaming on Peacock.
A singer, songwriter, and producer, Deneen majored in professional music and contemporary writing and production and started releasing original singles in 2020. Swope, who also majored in professional music, is a singer and keyboardist based in Nashville, and has performed at the Grand Ole Opry and on Fox 5's Good Day DC.
The Voice is no stranger to Berklee grads. Previous contestants have included Lana Scott ’14, and Ricky Duran '11, Mendeleyev Allan-Blitz B.M. ’16, Brooke Stephenson B.M. ’14, Erika Zade, Courtney Harrell ’01, and Jackie Foster B.M. ’18.
John Legend ‘20H, one of the show’s celebrity judges, was awarded an honorary doctorate in 2020.
