Berklee Career Jam Showcases Student Talent for Top Industry Professionals
Berklee has announced the lineup for Career Jam 2022, on April 1, an all-day festival focused on career development that empowers students with opportunities to not only connect and learn from industry professionals, but to showcase their talents in live performances and auditions. A full day of interactive seminars and workshops leads up to the headline concert event Career Jam Presents The Show at 7:30 p.m. at the Berklee Performance Center.
The concert, produced by Berklee alumni Rob Lewis ’94 (Christina Aguilera, Nickelodeon, MTV, VH1) and Ash Rodriguez ’09 (Lana Del Rey, John Legend, Robin Thicke), offers Berklee students the chance to perform in front of major record labels, music publishers, media companies, and content creators. This exhilarating live production features world-renowned hits reimagined by many of Berklee’s brightest vocalists, rappers, arrangers, and instrumentalists. Advanced tickets to are available for purchase, and the concert is also viewable via Livestream.
"In this installment of The Show, we challenge the students to completely craft their visions as artists," says Lewis. "We love to assist in the development of these special artists and performers by mentoring and coaching them throughout the process, showing them how to translate their vision to live performance, and encouraging them to continuously discover and enhance their uniqueness to find their place in the ever-changing world of music."
This year's Career Jam returns to an in-person format featuring over 90 speakers from all corners of the entertainment industry. The 2022 lineup includes Grammy-winning songwriter Daryl Simmons (Boyz II Men, Toni Braxton, TLC), Emmy-nominated composer Pinar Toprak B.M. ’00 (HBO’s McMillions, Captain Marvel, Fortnite), actress and choreographer Kylie Jefferson B.F.A. ’16 (Netflix's Tiny Pretty Things), vocal performer Natalie Weiss (creator of the viral edutainment series Breaking Down the Riffs), and Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Claude Kelly B.M. ’02 (Whitney Houston, Bruno Mars, Ariana Grande).
In addition to the concert, a live audition for Berklee’s renowned Summer in the City concert series will be held in the afternoon. Selected students will go on a paid tour to perform at unique Boston venues such as the Institute of Contemporary Art, Club Passim, Prudential Center, Boston Public Library, and others.
