Daniel Nunnelee is an alternative folk artist based in Nashville, Tennessee. Born in Memphis and raised in small towns around Mississippi and Tennessee, Daniel spent time in many different churches. It was a talented music minister in Senatobia, Mississippi who inspired Daniel to start playing and writing his own music. His songs are reflections of loud thoughts in quiet moments, a style mirrored in his performance.
Drumming Bird is an indie-rock band based in Nashville, Tennessee, and the main vehicle of singer-songwriter Austin Sawyer. The 23-year-old has been writing and performing music for over seven years as Drumming Bird. Following the release of a full-length record, Great Smoky Love, and two standalone singles, Drumming Bird released their second album, Ocoee, in October 2020. The album received critical acclaim and regular radio rotation on several stations including Nashville’s Lightning 100, and led to Drumming Bird being named their Local Artist of the Week.
The beginning of 2021 saw Drumming Bird land a placement of their song “Second Best” on Showtime’s hit TV show Shameless, followed by a year of debuts at some of the Southeast’s flagship clubs including Proud Larry’s, the 40 Watt Club, and a sold-out headlining show at Nashville’s the Basement.
This year ushers in the next chapter of Drumming Bird with a five-song EP, American Spirits, slated for an August release. American Spirits offers a shift in Sawyer’s typical writing, tackling topics such as the reverberations of religion in today’s society, aspects of our nation’s troubled history, and the joys and struggles of long-term relationships. The lead single, “American Spirits,” is out via AWAL on May 19.
