Berklee Announces Return to In-Person Learning for Fall 2021 Semester

Berklee College of Music and Boston Conservatory at Berklee will plan to offer in-person classes for the fall 2021 semester.

March 23, 2021

Berklee College of Music and Boston Conservatory at Berklee will plan to fully return to on-campus instruction at their Boston campus facilities starting in September 2021. On-campus offerings for the fall will include classroom learning, private lessons, in-person studio classes, studio recording, ensemble participation, and live performances, creating the vibrancy, connections, and interactions that make the Berklee community a unique place to learn and grow as artists.

The social distancing and testing protocols in place for the current spring 2021 hybrid semester have kept the Berklee community healthy and safe throughout the spring, resulting in a current positivity rate well below that of the surrounding area. While Berklee does not expect COVID-19 to be entirely eliminated by the fall, the anticipated pace of vaccinations and concurrent decline in cases will allow the institution to return to near-normal activities.

“I feel confident speaking for my successor Dr. Erica Muhl, and our entire faculty and staff, as I express my enthusiasm about the fall 2021 semester and our long-awaited return to a more familiar academic setting,” said Berklee President Roger H. Brown in a note to the Berklee community.

Students will register for the fall semester between June 15 and 23, allowing time to plan a full transition back to a complement of in-person courses. The Back to Berklee website will be updated with additional information regarding policies related to this transition back to campus learning.
