Berklee Latino Names Stagnaro Executive Director, Announces Colombia and Ecuador Events
Berklee College of Music has appointed four-time Grammy-winning bassist and professor Oscar Stagnaro as executive director of Berklee Latino, the college’s Spanish-language program. Javier Limon continues to serve as artistic director of the program. Berklee Latino recently hosted its first event of 2017 in Mexico City, and additional events will take place in Bogotá, Colombia and Quito, Ecuador later this year.
“I’m really excited to continue the work of Berklee Latino,” says Stagnaro. “In addition to our workshops in Latin America, we are excited to partner with the Mexican Consulate in Boston on a Cinco de Mayo event, and to co-sponsor other annual events on campus like the Latin America Vive Music Festival and Latin Divas concert.”
Berklee Latino offers Spanish-speaking musicians the opportunity to explore the essence of Latin American music and experience Berklee’s curriculum in their own country through concerts, master classes, visiting artists, and workshops. Berklee Latino also supports music education in Latin communities around the world through access to Berklee resources and scholarships. All programs are open to musicians 15 and older with at least six months of musical experience. View more information on programs, including requirements, deadlines, and program registration.
