Hailing from the San Francisco Bay Area, 19-year-old Audrey Mika(Opens in a new window) rose to prominence on YouTube, developing a large following because of her unique covers of popular hits. More than 1 million YouTube subscribers flock to her original material, including her two most recent projects: Are We There Yet (2018) and Level Up (2019), both of which were recorded entirely on GarageBand. She’s been called a “rising star” by Paper Magazine, and her original music was praised as “incredible” by Ones to Watch.
“Growing up on top of a freakin’ mountain” amid the rustic serenity of Duanesburg, New York, Souly Had (Opens in a new window)constructs alternative hip-hop, punctuated by off-kilter organic production and post-modern R&B drip. He has amassed 20 million streams and landed a deal with Island Records in 2019.
“I was sitting in my friend’s attic in the middle of nowhere watching all of these artists blow up on the internet, and I said to myself, ‘I could do this,’ ” recalls Had, who is working on an EP and a full-length debut. Snaps, dreamy plucks, and a glitchy beat underscore his dynamic delivery.
