Dedicating a new percussion facility underwritten by Zildjian.
January 1, 2014
On October 8, 2013, Berklee opened the new Zildjian Percussion Facility in the college’s 921 Boylston Street building. The new facility houses ensemble rooms, instrumental labs, and classrooms for instruction in drum set, hand percussion, vibraphone, and marimba. On hand for the dedication were members of the Zildjian family, including Avedis Zildjian Company CEO Craigie Zildjian, Vice President, Human Resources Debbie Zildjian, and Cady Zildjian-Bickford. Grammy-winning drummer Antonio Sanchez ’97, who was on campus as an Armand Zildjian Artist in Residence, also attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
For years, the Avedis Ziljdian Company has supported the Armand Zildjian Artist in Residence Program and provided generous scholarship support to Berklee student musicians. “We are very happy to have a long-standing relationship with Berklee,” Craigie Zildjian noted. “As a trustee emeritus I am proud of its worldwide reputation as the premier program for contemporary music education.”
