Erin Tunnicliffe Named Senior Vice President for Institutional Advancement
Berklee has announced Erin Tunnicliffe as its new senior vice president for Institutional Advancement, an appointment that began on May 30. Tunnicliffe joined Berklee in February, where she has served as the head of Institutional Advancement on an interim basis. She will partner closely with the president, senior leadership team, and the Board of Trustees as an active and contributing thought leader and central architect of Berklee’s institutional advancement priorities and goals.
Tunnicliffe will also lead Berklee’s advancement staff, promoting a culture of excellence, collaboration, and professional growth; build capacity and engagement among the institution’s alumni, parents, and friends; and develop meaningful strategic frameworks to raise sights and increase engagement with volunteers and donors at all levels.
“I am thrilled to continue my work in Berklee’s Office of Institutional Advancement as senior vice president,” said Tunnicliffe. “After joining this strong team earlier this year, I am more excited than ever to continue to work together to inspire philanthropy and engagement. Berklee is a place full of brilliant and innovative work being done every day. I look forward to continuing to share the news of this work, and to build relationships with those who have generously supported the institution as donors. I am also honored to support a visionary president in Erica Muhl, as well as Berklee’s extraordinary faculty leadership, as a part of my new role.”
Throughout her career, Tunnicliffe has been an institutional leader with a powerful vision for advancement. Over a 20-plus-year career at Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire, she held a variety of positions, most recently leading the school’s fundraising efforts as associate dean for advancement. In this capacity, she led a 25-person team dedicated to coordinating major giving, the annual fund, alumni relations, operations, and board engagement to maximize philanthropy from Tuck’s community, including the $250 million Tuck Difference campaign, which she designed and led. At Tuck, she also served as executive director of advancement, executive director of development, director of development, director of major gifts, and director of career services. In 2021, she founded Erin Tunnicliffe Consulting to guide nonprofit leaders in fundraising strategy, organizational design, and leadership transitions.
“I am so pleased to be working alongside Erin Tunnicliffe as Berklee’s new senior vice president of Institutional Advancement,” said Berklee President Erica Muhl. “During Erin’s interim appointment, I have witnessed her exceptional work firsthand. In addition to her record of significant accomplishment over a two-decade career at Dartmouth College, Erin has distinguished herself as a consummate professional who has a powerful vision for fundraising at Berklee.”
Tunnicliffe holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College, and a Bachelor of Science degree in economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. In addition to her professional work, she is an experienced yoga practitioner and teacher, and a novice triathlete who is passionate about nature. She lives in Vermont with her family.
