Jasmine Hines, Ph.D. (she/her) comes to Berklee with a background in teaching general, choral, and popular music education in both primary and higher education institutions. Jasmine brings her ingenuity, creativity, and passion for collaborative organization and the construction of making “learning by doing” experiences. As the director of experiential programs, she leads efforts in career education programs such as the Experiential Design Lab and other co-curricular collaborations with faculty including internships/co-ops and student employment.
Dr. Hines specializes in curricular development and revitalization and music teaching pedagogy. Her personal research interests include Critical Race Theory, creative thinking, and feminist and gendered studies within K-12, collegiate, and popular music institutions.
Prior to working at Berklee, Jasmine served as the assistant professor of choral music education at Kent State University in Kent, Ohio, graduate instructor and research assistant at the University of Florida School of Music, and as a licensed K-12 general and choral music instructor in Florida and Georgia where she taught, general, choral, and popular music courses from PreK-12th grade.
