Scholarships
Berklee offers a limited number of scholarships to the Five-Week Program. The application for scholarship is included in the online application to the Five-Week Program. Students seeking financial assistance must apply to the program online at berklee.edu/summer, and will be required to provide three examples of their performance abilities by submitting links to web postings (YouTube, myspace, etc.) and a short essay highlighting their musical and academic achievements. Scholarship awards range from $500 to full tuition (housing not included).

The deadline to apply for scholarship consideration to the Five-Week Program is March 1. Scholarship decisions will be issued by April 15. The scholarship selection committee will award music students who are most likely to benefit from the program based on the their demonstrated talent and potential, with preference given to students enrolled in high school or secondary school. There is no federal aid available for this program.

All program participants will have the opportunity to sign up for a live audition during the program for scholarship consideration towards Berklee's full-time program or next year's Five-Week Program.

D'Addario, Monterey International Pop Festival Foundation
The D'Addario Foundation for the Performing Arts and the Monterey International Pop Festival Foundation for Music have generously agreed to donate a limited number of scholarships to help some of our most deserving students. These awards will be chosen from our overall pool of scholarship requests. Recipients will be notified by April 15.

Arif Mardin Music Fellowship
In memory of Berklee alumnus Arif Mardin '61, the American Turkish Society will award one student a fellowship covering all program expenses, along with a $500 stipend. Individuals of Turkish descent or nationality are eligible to apply. Submit an application, mp3 recording/link, and a 500-word statement in English outlining your interest in the program and how you will benefit from it, as well as any distinctions in your musical career such as performances and awards. Send materials to the Office of Special Programs by mail, by fax (617 262-5419), or by email (summer@berklee.edu) by April 15.

Summer Jazz Workshop
The Summer Jazz Workshop is a high-level workshop that operates within the Five-Week Program, and includes a full scholarship, including tuition, room and board, and all related fees for some of the most talented jazz students in the world.

This workshop, led by artistic director Terri Lyne Carrington who has performed with such artists as George Duke, Herbie Hancock, Dianne Reeves, and Wayne Shorter, gives some of our most talented students an opportunity to gain valuable insight into the jazz idiom. The curriculum focuses on ensemble and performance skills, development of harmonic vocabulary, and a historical perspective on mainstream and contemporary jazz.

The application for the Summer Jazz Workshop is included in the online application to the Five-Week Program. When completing the online application, candidates will select the option for the Summer Jazz Workshop and will be required to submit links to web postings of their performances (YouTube, myspace, etc.) by February 1. Students selected for the Summer Jazz Workshop will be contacted directly and invited to participate by March 15. Students are required to confirm their acceptance into the program by April 1. Candidates that are not chosen for the workshop will automatically be considered for scholarship towards the Five-Week Program and will receive a decision by April 15.

The Summer Rock Workshop is a high-level workshop that operates within the Five- Week Program, and includes a full scholarship, including tuition, room and board, and all related fees for some of the most talented rock students in the world.

This workshop, led by artistic director T Lavitz who has worked with such artists as Billy Cobham, Dixie Dregs, and Scott Henderson, provides some of our most talented students an opportunity to expand their skills in the rock idiom. The curriculum focuses on ensemble and performance skills, stylistic vocabulary, and a historical perspective to contemporary rock.

The application for the Summer Rock Workshop is included in the online application to the Five-Week Program. When completing the online application, candidates will select the option for the Summer Rock Workshop and will be required to submit links to web postings of their performances (YouTube, myspace, etc.) by February 1. Students selected for the Summer Rock Workshop will be contacted directly and invited to participate by March 15. Students are required to confirm their acceptance into the program by April 1. Tuition and Fees

  • Application Fee $50 (nonrefundable)
  • Tuition Deposit $200
  • Remaining Tuition $4,050 (total tuition: $4,250)

  • Comprehensive Fee $150
We prefer that you send in your $200 tuition deposit before June 1 so that we can better project our enrollment and, in turn, provide a smoother registration process. The deposit will be deducted from your tuition.
Please be aware: International students will need to pay their United States consulate or embassy an additional visa processing fee.

Payment
We strongly encourage you make full payment of tuition, housing, and fees in advance of the program. Making payment in full by June 21, 2010 will expedite your registration process significantly. Bills will be mailed 45 days prior to the start of the program. The bill will include a payment coupon and return mail envelope for your convenience. All bills will have instructions on how to make payment using the internet, phone, and bank-to-bank wire transfers. Tuition and housing fees are to be paid together unless you are living off-campus. Payment during registration is highly discouraged. If you are experiencing difficulty making your payment by June 21, contact our offices for assistance. If your application was not received and processed in time for you to make full payment by June 21, you should contact the Office of the Bursar directly. A bill will be mailed regardless of when your application is processed, and it will indicate "Late Add." While no additional charges are assessed for this, you are still responsible for making the payment within the due date guidelines.

Accepted Students
If you have been accepted to the program and would like to pay your tuition, housing (if applicable), or other fees online, visit our online payment website. Your Berklee ID number is required in order for the payment to be posted to your student account. Refer to your acceptance letter or tuition bill if you are not sure what your student Berklee ID number is. Please note: Only MasterCard, Discover, and American Express can be used when making online payments. Visa is NOT accepted.
