Taking the Road Less Traveled at Berklee
TV Newsmagazine Chronicle profiles some of the college's unusual people and courses.
April 17, 2007
Berklee College of Music isn't all about jazz, pop, and rock. With offerings in bluegrass, hip-hop, Celtic and Latin music, and beyond, the college offers much more than meets the eye. With this in mind, Chronicle, a newsmagazine produced by Boston's ABC-TV affiliate, recently offered a glimpse into a side of Berklee most people aren't aware of.
A 19-minute segment airing last month introduced viewers to lesser-known dimensions of Berklee, including music therapy, film scoring, and music technology. The story also featured a number of classes and ensembles, such as Africana Studies courses. Voice professor Mili Bermejo's CD release concert and the Stevie Wonder Songbook are among the events that were showcased on the segment.
Faculty, administrators, and students were interviewed for the piece, including student vocalist Ryan Chris; faculty members Bill Banfield, Stephen Croes, Matt Glaser, Dave Hollender, Eric Reasoner, Danielle Scott, Ezperanza Spalding, Lisa Thorson, and Stephen Webber; and Berklee President Roger Brown.
