Chair
Bass

"It is important to have a balance of traditional skills and repertoire, while staying abreast of new changes and developments. This balance can be found in the curriculum for the four-, five-, and six-string electric bass, the fretless bass, and acoustic bass. Students learn concepts in Latin, funk, Motown, and hip-hop, while maintaining a foundation from earlier styles of jazz, rock, and fusion."

About our Faculty

If there is one thing that every member of the Berklee community agrees on, it's the quality of our faculty. It's not merely that our teachers are great mentors to developing musicians or the fact of their extraordinary talent as performers, composers, producers, and business people. It's all of that, plus their deeply held belief that music isn't just a career. It's a way of being in the world and communicating with the people who inhabit it. Our faculty are passionate and serious about music, and they expect their students to be the same way.

If you come to Berklee, you'll be in the presence of not only educators but professional musicians who are among the best in their fields. Many of our faculty have earned Grammy Awards and nominations and have collaborated with the most groundbreaking artists out there. But we've got our own innovators right here, musicians you'll get to work side by side with, like Joe Lovano, Joanne Brackeen, Kenwood Dennard, Donna McElroy, Rod Morgenstein, Richard Evans, and Mick Goodrick. Spend some time reading through our site to learn more. Search below for more about them and the rest of our more than 531 faculty members. There's a lot to learn about our teachers, and a lot to learn from them.
